Hokkaidoi s the northernmost island in the Japanese archipelago.
Mountains, lakes, and other features make Hokkaido a place of great natural beauty. It attracts many tourists in the summer and skiers in winter.

The Tohoku region is located in the northernmost part of Honshu. It consists of 6 prefectures: Aomori prefecture, Iwate prefecture, Akita prefecture, Miyagi prefecture, Yamagata prefecture, and Fukushima prefecture.
The Tohoku region is also located at a high latitude, so the temperature is lower in the same Honshu region than in other regions.
